The maximum number of form submissions has been reached. This form is currently not available.
As Tutors, we will
● Provide structure with textbook selections, curricula, homework assignments and selected tutor-assessed assignments and tests to support you in your homeschooling endeavor.
● Provide group learning activities e.g. science labs, Socratic discussions, skits, etc. that complement class curricula.
● Post all parent-graded homework assignments on Jupiter.
● Post all tutor-assessed assignments on Jupiter.
● Grade and return tutor-assessed assignments within a two week period following submission.
● Accept late (assignments) with prior parental permission only. Grading will take place as tutor schedule
allows. Late work without parental permission will not be graded by tutors. It is the tutor’s prerogative to assess late penalties and have time limits for submitting late work, however, work later than one week will be graded by the parents.
As parents, we ask you to
● Recognize that you are the primary educator of your child and that high school students need regular instructional support from their parents when studying at home. Check your child’s work assignments daily for completion and when necessary accuracy.
● Provide an appropriate environment for your child to complete his/her work and be dedicated to your child or children during home school hours. Taking your child to your job and having him/her complete school work while you are working is not homeschooling.
● Meet with your child’s tutors prior to the start of the school year to discuss any physical, emotional, or academic challenges that will affect the student-tutor relationship.
● Create a weekly study schedule with your student to use throughout the school year.
● Teach your child how to communicate respectfully and appropriately with tutors via email and text.
● Review Jupiter assignments daily. Student questions should first be addressed to parents. If you are unsure of the assignment requirements, students should contact another student in the class for clarification. If the student is still unclear, then email tutors with very specific questions.
● Check homework daily to make sure the student is completing and correcting his/her work.
● Contact tutor(s) immediately if student needs extra support to complete assignments and to communicate the accommodations you will provide.
● Sign and return all reports that are sent home.
● Supervise tests and quizzes at home as requested by tutors.
● Visit the Jupiter site weekly for grade updates to keep abreast of the progress of your child.
● Review graded assignments when they are returned to the student as part of your study time together.
● Determine what grades need to be submitted to your umbrella or to the county. Report cards are a courtesy that SPR provides to parents as a tool for the parent to determine how the student is progressing in the subject. They are not an official document, and if they don’t provide grades in the format that an umbrella or the country requires, it is the parent’s responsibility to translate the grades SPR provides to the grades required by the student’s umbrella or the county.
● Ensure that your student has access to a computer and working printer every day of the week.
● Make any student withdrawal decisions by the end of the second week of the semester. No refunds will be given after that time., nor will any refunds be issued if SPR is required to move to online instruction due to Covid-19 or as otherwise required by local/state authorities or the Archdiocese of Washington.
As students, we ask you to
● Recognize that St. Peter the Rock is a faith-inspired learning environment. As such student’s are expected to conduct themselves virtuously by making prudent decisions in regard to speech, actions, and interactions with fellow students and tutors.
● Respect the limited instructional time by arriving to class on time and not disrupting class or distracting other students during class.
● Upon entering the classroom, have all supplies for the class out on the desk and sit quietly until instruction begins.
● Work with your parents to create a study plan that allows you to complete all assigned work on or before its due date.
● Accept instruction from your parents and seek their assistance before contacting tutors outside of class.
● Establish a relationship with other students in the class to form a support structure when assignments are unclear.
● Take responsibility for mastering your coursework. Make the time to understand and retain the course material; do not simply complete assignments.
● Keep a well-organized binder for each course. Bring all necessary materials and books to class.
● Follow all assignment instructions as required by tutors e.g. proper assignment headings, document requirements, submission requirements, etc.
● Type ALL assignments unless tutor states otherwise.
● Complete ALL math work in pencil, not pen.
● Visit the Jupiter site daily for assignment and grade updates.
● Contact tutor(s) with any questions in a respectful and timely manner. Emailing the day before the assignment is due is not pragmatic.
● Learn the correct manner in which to submit a request to your tutors via email.
● Adhere to academic integrity at all times. Students who cheat on tests or plagiarize will earn a 0 on the test or assignment and repeat offenses are grounds for expulsion.
