All new students are required to attend a shadow day at St. Peter’s (SPR). To arrange a shadow day for your student, contact Mrs. Sam Fatzinger at 301-832-2216 or click on the Contact Us tab at the top of each page.
After this visit the Admissions Director will contact you to find out if you would like to apply for admission. If so, please fill out the New Student Information form online. In addition, you will be asked to review and initial all SPR policy documents online: Tutor/Parent/Student Agreement. Code of Conduct and current Registration form per semester. All fees indicated on the Registration Form are per semester.
Your student will also be asked to complete a math placement test and provide a sample of his/her writing. Any learning assessments or IEPs that will help tutors to understand individual needs of your student will be mailed to St.Peter the Rock, 2700 Lyn Place, Bowie, MD 20715.
SPR welcomes students with learning differences and provides reasonable accommodations in order that these students can benefit from the curriculum. However, since these are high school classes, most accommodations will have to be made at home. For example, if a student needs extra time on an exam on a Tuesday or Thursday, that time must come from lunch time. We do not have the flexibility to extend one class into another time slot. However, if an exam is taken at home, parents have the flexibility to allow extra time, as needed. If your student has an identified learning difference, disability and/or any other issues that may affect his or her ability to participate in the SPR program, please make sure to describe these on the New Student Questionnaire. Also include any pertinent information about your child’s learning style and any existing IEP or other Psychological Report.
Please submit all records to St. Peter the Rock, 2700 Lyn Place, Bowie, MD 20715.
The SPR Board and Admission Committee will review new family applications on a rolling basis. We will contact you within one week of receipt of your completed application to set up an interview. All families are required to have an interview with at least one parent and the student(s) present.
The SPR Board will notify families of the decision to accept or decline your application for admission to SPR by June 30,2022. Returning families have until March 31, 2022 to confirm their students position for the following year. Some classes are close to being full with returning students. Full-time students will be given priority over students attending single classes.
Within two weeks of acceptance notification, new families must pay the reduced registration fee to hold a place for your student(s) at SPR if before June 30, 2022. After that day, registration fees increase.
As part of the admissions process, we will administer a math placement test and possibly a grammar and composition placement test. If necessary, we may request the completion of summer instruction and/or review in specific areas such as math and grammar to ensure proper placement during the academic year. Our goal is that your student benefit from the best placement for optimal success.
If you have any questions about the admissions process, please send communications to Mrs. Sam Fatzinger at 301-832-2216 for assistance.
